About Me

Guillemette Fougeras holds a Master’s degree in Law and taxation of the art market from the University of Lyon, Jean Moulin where she focused on art market law as well as cultural heritage laws and restitutions.

She further extended her experience in project management and legal research while working in Cambodia and leading the publication of the Annotated Cambodian Constitution.

Guillemette has extensive experience in the auction sector, where she served as team lead for post-sale dispute resolution. She worked closely with buyers and sellers to resolve claims involving fine art, collectibles, and luxury goods, addressing issues related to authenticity, conformity, import regulations, and VAT compliance.

She has further specialised in provenance research and nazi-looted art claims where she focuses on investigating the ownership history of artworks and cultural objects. Her work supports collectors, institutions, and market participants through due diligence, risk assessment, and pre-sale advisory.

She is a member of CPRProvenance and the Cultural Property Protection for All action, and volunteers for the Center for Art Law’s Nazi Looted Art Restitution Project.
